Reports to: Central Field Engineering Manager

Basic Function:
Responsible for the organization of field engineering force. Liaise with the project engineer when required to solve engineering issues. Interprets design drawings and specifications. Supervises field verification of materials. Provide technical directions to construction crews. Reports to and receives operational from the Central Field Engineering Manager. Receives functional direction and support from Central Engineering Manager.
Subject to appropriate approvals and as directed by the Central Engineering Manager, receives operational direction from other managers.

Job Duties

• Recommends the field engineering organization.
• Coordinates with the Superintendents and subcontractors to plan construction work.
• Prepare or directs preparation of Field Material Requisition. Review material receiving reports and warehousing to assure delivery of correct materials.
• Coordinates subcontract activities to ensure materials; equipment and workmanship comply with design plans and specifications.
• Plans and recommends procedures to be implemented by Superintendents to assure construction operations are within requirements of engineering design and specifications.
• Supervises the receiving, distribution and filing of plans and specifications.
• Directs the maintenance of construction engineering records for job history.
• Directs preparation of quantity listings of field purchased materials.
• Supervise preparation of construction drawings and shop drawings.
• Supervise design of temporary construction facilities.
• Ensure preparation and documentation of “As Built” drawings.
• Monitor permanent equipment installation.
• Advise on specifications, purchase orders, subcontracts, and inspection reports.
• Review vendor bids and make recommendations.

Qualifications

Experience with and knowledge of all Field-Engineering operations, particularly as they pertain to construction operations at temporary operating and jobsite locations. A recognized degree in Engineering. Knowledge of field engineering procedures. Good knowledge of current regulatory codes and standards. Good knowledge of computers software and computer aided design.  6 years experience as field engineer or in construction related fields. Good written and communication skills.
